Installation

Install the MAC CLI and images on each host, then start services.

Prerequisites

  • Ubuntu amd64 or a RHEL-family OS, with root access
  • Docker 20.10+ with Compose v2
  • NTP or chrony on every node, so tokens, logs and metrics share one clock
  • Access to MangoBoost's image registry or your mirror
  • GPU and MangoBoost drivers, which MAC does not install (Mango SDK documentation)

Install Docker

On Ubuntu:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install docker.io docker-compose-v2
sudo systemctl enable --now docker
docker compose version

On RHEL-family hosts, install Docker Engine and Compose v2 for your distribution.

Run mac Without sudo

sudo usermod -aG docker $USER
newgrp docker # or log out and back in

sudo mac env set --global and master start/restart with a root-only token file still need sudo.

Get Repository Credentials

Request APT guest credentials from contact@mangoboost.io. Images need no login.

Install the MAC Package

For RHEL-family hosts, skip to RPM Installation.

1. Add the APT auth file

sudo install -d -m 0755 /etc/apt/auth.conf.d
sudo tee /etc/apt/auth.conf.d/mango-sdk.conf >/dev/null <<EOF
machine repo.mangoboost.io
login <guest-username>
password <guest-password>
EOF
sudo chmod 600 /etc/apt/auth.conf.d/mango-sdk.conf

2. Trust the repository signing key

curl -fsSL \
https://repo.mangoboost.io/artifactory/api/security/keypair/mb-gpg/public \
| gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/mango-sdk.gpg >/dev/null

3. Add the APT source

echo "deb https://repo.mangoboost.io/artifactory/public-debian jammy universe" \
| sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mango-sdk.list

4. Install

sudo apt update
sudo apt install mango-ai-center
mac --help

Without APT access, request a .deb and run sudo dpkg -i mango-ai-center_<version>_amd64.deb.

RPM Installation

Request the RPM for your distribution, then install it:

sudo dnf install ./mango-ai-center-<version>-<release>.<arch>.rpm
mac --help

Software and DPU actions need an RPM-capable SDK_AGENT_IMAGE.

Pull the Container Images

mac images all
mac pull all # or: mac pull master / mac pull agent

For your own registry, see Switch to a Private Mirror.

Offline Installation

Request the offline bundle with its tarball and MANIFEST checksums. The bundle installs on Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04. Hosts not listed in its bundle.env need Docker and Compose preinstalled.

  1. Verify and extract the bundle:

    sha256sum -c mango-ai-center-offline-<version>-ubuntu-amd64.tar.gz.sha256
    tar xzf mango-ai-center-offline-<version>-ubuntu-amd64.tar.gz
    cd mango-ai-center-offline-<version>-ubuntu-amd64
  2. Install the master first (--start all on a single server):

    sudo ./install.sh --start master --manifest-sha256 <published-MANIFEST-checksum>
  3. On each agent, pass the master's node token:

    sudo ./install.sh --start agent --master-ip <master-ip> \
    --env MAC_NODE_TOKEN=<master-token> --manifest-sha256 <published-MANIFEST-checksum>

To keep the token out of process arguments, use --env-stdin instead.

Before updating an offline cluster, load the new bundle on every node:

mac load /opt/mango-ai-center-offline-<version>-ubuntu-amd64
mac images --check

SDK updates still need a reachable APT or DNF repository. On offline RPM hosts, install the RPM, load the images and set node-wide MAC_OFFLINE=true before starting.
